Phil was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on the same dairy farm he lives on today. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Agricultural Engineering from Penn State University and University of Wisconsin, Madison respectively. While working for International Harvester, he received his first of many patents. Phil has led multiple engineering teams, including the VAL-CO Engineering Department since 2009. In 2013, he took on the role of President & CEO but continues to lead the engineering team. In addition to his responsibilities in the office, he has stayed true to his farmer roots and still runs a 100-acre farm. Phil is dedicated to growing VAL-CO by supporting and serving his team members. His development mindset has led to innovative products, a reputation for quality, and marked growth both domestically and across international markets. Phil believes that hard work works and is relentless in overcoming challenges. He acts with integrity and respect in all of his business dealings and encourages creativity and teamwork to support innovative improvements. Phil enjoys working way too much, farming and field work, backpacking in the Rockies, and spending time at his cabin.
Adrian Hunting
VP International Sales
Adrian was born and raised with an international upbringing. Originally from Wales, he’s lived in various parts of the United Kingdom, spent several years in Nigeria, and moved back to England where he completed his secondary education. After working in the oil industry, Shell UK granted him a scholarship to study geology at London University. After the oil prices crashed, Adrian moved to Scotland to work odd jobs, finding steady work with Booker McConnell where he established, constructed and managed operational salmon farms. He left the UK for New Zealand in 1987, taking his expertise in fisheries with him. Eventually he switched to poultry, running a breeding program for Tegel Foods. He moved to Fiji to set up a breeding program, which became his first encounter with VAL-CO, when he purchased equipment for a new breeder farm. He became an independent VAL-CO dealer covering Asia and achieved phenomenal growth in that area. He eventually relocated to Holland, Netherlands, and is currently the VP of International Sales. Once a competitive rugby player, he has since resigned to armchair critic. He also has a love for sailing, hiking, gardening and woodworking. When he’s not traveling, he is based in New Zealand, where he enjoys spending time with his family.
Trey Martin
Director of Sales, North America
Trey was born and raised in central Alabama and studied Agriculture Business and Economics at Auburn University. Trey spent 13 1/2 years in live production with Tyson Foods. Trey has built his career across multiple roles, starting as a Broiler Service Technician and advancing to Broiler, Breeder, and Hatchery Manager before stepping into his role as Live Production Manager.
Currently, Trey is the newest member of the VAL-CO sales team, as the Upper Midwest Territory Sales Manager, where he provides service to distributors and customers. He enjoys being able to work alongside people to help them achieve their goals. His work is influenced by his strong faith, integrity, and honesty; he strives to be a servant leader each and every day. He enjoys going to church with his family and spending time together on the weekends, along with outdoor activities like hunting and golf among his favorites.
Rik Verweij
General and Sales Manager, Europe, Central Asia and Russia
Rik was born in Lopik, the Netherlands, near the VAL-CO BV office, where he lived until he left to pursue his studies at Agricultural College. He graduated in Deventer with a bachelor’s degree in International Dairy and Poultry Farming.
His professional career began as a Herd Manager on a dairy farm in Saudi Arabia, where he gained valuable international experience early on. Rik later spent 16 years living and working in Russia, holding leadership positions with several leading broiler integrators as Production Director, as well as serving as General Manager for Topigs Russia in the field of pig genetics.
In the broiler industry, Rik gained extensive experience with VAL-CO watering systems through installations on various poultry farms. He later launched his own hatching egg export business while continuing to support the industry as a reseller of VAL-CO farm equipment.
Rik joined VAL-CO BV in 2018 and was appointed General Manager in 2020. In this role, he oversees daily operations while supporting sales initiatives and managing the UK and Russian markets. His responsibilities include technical support, customer relationships, and marketing efforts, ensuring VAL-CO continues to deliver strong service and solutions to customers.
Outside of work, Rik enjoys spending time with his wife, Irina, and their four children. He takes great pride in caring for their traditional Dutch farmhouse, where he enjoys gardening and tackling home improvement projects. An avid outdoorsman, Rik also maintains a hunting area and a log hunting lodge in Germany, which he built alongside his hunting partner.
Rik has a deep appreciation for the outdoors, with a passion for fishing and hunting. Since beginning big game hunting in Germany, hunting has become a significant part of his life. He enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family and hunting friends, whether exploring the outdoors, maintaining his hunting territory, or simply appreciating the beauty of nature
Andson Vu
General Manager, China
Andson grew up in Shanghai, China, and joined VAL-CO China in August 2003 as Operations Manager. In addition to overseeing the company's daily operations, he played an active role in expanding VAL-CO's presence in the Chinese market by working closely with the sales team and regularly visiting key customers.
In 2017, Andson was promoted to General Manager, where he continues to focus on strengthening customer relationships and driving business growth throughout China. His leadership and deep understanding of the local market have been instrumental in VAL-CO China's continued success.
Outside of work, Andson enjoys spending time with his family and exploring new destinations, both across China and around the world.
